Beckenham is situated about 2 miles south of the osteopathic preactice in West Wickham. Until the coming of the railway in 1857 Beckenham was a small village in almost rural surroundings. Its population soared from 2000 to 26,000 between 1850 and 1900 due to the settlement of a wealthy family of entrepreneurs. The current population is now nearly 82,000.
